The Council for Churches in Africa (CCA) is thrilled to highlight the transformative work of the St Luke’s Apostolic Ejiwel Jekenishen Church in empowering disadvantaged villagers in and around Manicaland province. Recently covered by the Standard Style, this story showcases the church’s commitment to community development and support for the less privileged.

Transformative Initiatives

During a tour of an orphanage and skills center in Musanhi, led by CCA leader Archbishop Dr. Rocky Moyo, the impactful efforts of St Luke’s Apostolic Ejiwel Jekenishen Church were brought to the forefront. Under the leadership of Archbishop Dr. Phillip Pferedzai, the church has embarked on numerous initiatives aimed at improving the lives of orphans, widows, and other vulnerable community members.

“Today we have witnessed one of the transformative programmes that Dr. Saint Phillip has embarked on,” said Dr. Moyo. “This is quite noble for us as churches to look after the welfare of less privileged members of communities. As indigenous churches in Africa, we are proud of St Luke’s Apostolic Ejiwel Jekenishen Church and its leadership for its conformity to laws, policies, and government programmes which are meant to cultivate community morality and ethics which entails inclusivity.”

Government and Community Support

The event was also attended by Zanu PF director of Research, Strategy, and Liaison, Davison Gomo, who praised the church for its significant role in fostering peace, unity, and development. “We really appreciate the activities and developments which are being done at this centre,” said Gomo. “This church has demonstrated its capacity and commitment to ensure that there is peace, unity, and development as the best tenets for any just society.”

The church’s efforts extend beyond spiritual guidance, encompassing education, rights awareness, and social empowerment. Their work has positively impacted many, providing essential support and fostering a culture of equity and equality.

Vision for the Future

Archbishop Dr. Phillip Pferedzai’s vision includes building peaceful communities across Zimbabwe and other African countries. His dedication to empowering the less privileged through education and peer-to-peer engagement is central to the church’s mission.

“As a church, we see it noble to empower all less privileged members of our society while according them the knowledge of creating a conducive environment for them to transform others on a peer-to-peer engagement and awareness,” said Dr. Pferedzai.
